Lesson 12 The Power of Film, Video and TV in the Clasroom

"Films, videos and the television can help us procure more knowledge of a thing indirectly available to us. Indeed, it is advantageous when used properly but  can hinder student's mental development when used unguided."
                                                                                                                -Vince

If we want to learn something about the earth's entire surface, do we really need to come aboard the next U.S. spacecraft or the next Russian space Shuttle?

If we want to see what lies in the ocean world, do we really need to ride along the submarine going to Marianas trench?

If we want to discover more on the first civilizations, do we really need to get on a time travel capsule for us to reach the ancient world?

Of course my friends, the questions above may just seem so impossible for us, but maybe there can be some who are bold enough to do such propositions.

However, let us think of this: Isn't there any other way to see the entire earth's beauty? Isn't there any other instance to witness the magnificent view of the world beneath the earth's landmasses? Does going back to a period in our history necessarily mean turning back time for us to see what the past really look like?

I say to you my dear friends, it isn't necessary or compulsory at all! What I have presented are just few of the instances wherein the importance of films, videos and televisions are applicable.

Using the films like Armageddon  or Apollo 18 can help us see the entire surface of our planet and of other heavenly bodies of the universe without actually risking ourselves and our pockets of going to the outer space!

By our utilization of the television programs like shows in the Discovery Channel, we were able to reach even the deepest part of the earth's surface without the hazard of being bitten by sharks!

Through watching documentary videos of the early civilizations of the world and of other historical events, we    had defied the idea of using time machines just to explore the past.

That is why I say, films, videos and televisions are really powerful indeed! But beware, too much of everything isn't good at all. So we should take control in using these stuffs and use it for our benefits, not for our disadvantage...
