Lesson 17 Assessment in a Constructivist, Technology-Supported Learning
"To ensure our students have understood our lesson, there is really a high need for assessment or evaluation."
-Vince
The traditional paper-and-pencil tests are not adequate to
assess learning in a constructivist technology-supported learning. We should
not rely only to students’ power of memory in concluding that they already
acquired the desired thought of the lesson.
The authentic forms of assessment like performance and
product assessment are more reliable and exact to measure students’
communication, analytical, integrative, evaluative, and collaborative skills.
In a technology-supported learning environment, the students
are not only users of technology product; they themselves are authors of
technology product. Hence, scoring rubrics are a must in assessment.
We must remember that students have different types of intelligences and different learning styles. Hence, it is a need for us to assess in a better way that will cater or be fitting to the student's capabilities and skills.
